South City Seafood, Princes St, Otahuhu! Last Friday I bought 2 black snapper, scaled and filleted for $11.40. Enough for 4 servings. The raw flesh is grey, but cooks white, with mild delicious flavour. Another underrated fish.

For those of us who don't live in Tamaki Makaurau it is very hard to find fresh fish of any kind. We want to eat it, we know how to cook it and smoke it, but our nearest fishmonger is a 50 minute drive away. What would be very helpful would be information about the various on-line fish suppliers and opinions of the quality of their offerings..

I feel that! If it's this hard in our biggest city, I can't imagine how tough it is rurally and regionally, especially inland. I try to avoid buying online because they arrive in enormous polystyrene boxes, so I'm left with another environmental nightmare to contend with. During the pandemic I purchased gorgeous kaimoana from Takitimu Seafoods in Napier, which sadly shutdown last year, but I also hear great things about Tora Collective (although they are only open seasonally). Options for delivery do vary based on where you're located though, and many seem to mostly sell only the popular options. LB.

Tora looks great but seems to sell only crayfish, paua and kina, which are not really within most people's financial reach.
